A unique 3D telecoms animation production
Stormy Studio were commissioned to produce a stylish 3D telecoms animation for Aradatum. With the goal to clearly visualise the unique features of the self powered cell tower.
Our creative team used a mix of stylised 3D environments and realistic 3D trees that could react and blow in the wind to enrich the overall visuals.
Technical 3D product installation animation
Based on provided reference materials and some highly detailed CAD files. We modelled, simplified versions of the Telecoms tower that would clearly depict the key features whilst ensuring a smooth animation process.
Due to the technical nature of the telecoms tower, we had lots of rounds of constructive review at keystages, both during storyboarding, animatic and draft animations to ensure the installation process was accurately depicted.
3D Depth Of Field
We rendered out a depth pass of the full animation. Allowing for quick depth of field effects to be applied and refined in post production. Giving the scene a realistic fall off in focus depending on the distance from the virtual 3D camera.
How was the video produced?
Working with Aradatum we collaborated at every stage, from initial script writing, storyboarding, animatic, draft and final 3D telecoms animation.
Toward the latter stages, we began to focus on brand colours, ensuring the companies brand pallette was utilised thorughout. This ensured the video tied in with the companies website and other marketing materials.
3D animated Trees blowing in the wind
One unique challenge for the production was to have trees that could react to the wind in the scene and particularly during high winds.
We ran multiple simulations and tweaked variables to arrive at an effective work flow that allowed us to test, repeat and refine the animation to achieve the final result.
