IT Racking - Animated 3D Technical Video
Stormy Studio were asked to produced a 2 minute 3d animated 3D technical video for APT (Advanced Power Technology).
Our creative team used a mix of stylised low poly environments, near photo real 3D product animation and 2D motion graphics. Delivering engaging visuals clearly explained APT business IT products and services.
Technical 3D scene animation
In this scene, we modified a supplied installation diagram (using the Adobe Creative suite) to direct the construction of an accurate 3D scene to showcase the building up a high end IT installation.
By making use of the using the latest advanced in 3D renderengines, which enable near realtime feedback on lighting and texturing. We were able to make well informed design desicions on the fly to create the best results.
This approach also allow us to export quick iterative updates and share with the whole design design and our client for collective feedback.
How was the video produced?
Working with APT we collaborated at very stage, from initial script writing. We had various rounds of review with early draft models and layouts to understand the exact technical requirements to ensure accuracy throughout. For example positioning power, cooling and the variety of racking components correctly. Both in building, and in the container style units.
Expandable 3D container animation
The complex nature of the customisable container installation, required various rounds of troubleshooting by our 3D team to develop an approach that shows the varied scope APT with a smooth and satisfying technical 3D visual.
All placed in a stylised low poly envrionement. with low poly trees and a consistent on brand colour palette throughout.
